Currently, I have novel ideas but need to get them rolling past their rough outlines. (maybe I should do that NaNoWriMo thing next month to get some traction.)
I do have a story that has a deadline, though, so that is probably my next project. We'll go with that. It will be novelette length.

What genre does it fall under?
Sword-&-planet.
Where did the idea come from? Who or what inspired you to write the story?
Two-fold. The first concept was a left-over from the Strange Worlds project. Jeff had extra slots to fill and I started on a second story based on another painting. I never quite got it firing.
A little later, a group of writer folks were "chatting" on Facebook, and the next thing we knew, we were mapping out a very loosely related group of sword-&-planet stories. After kicking around a few new ideas, I realized I could easily retool my already-partially-done story for the anthology.
Which actors would you use to portray the characters in a movie rendition?
No idea, really - I don't keep up on actors much. Heck, if someone even wanted to animate it, I'd be happy. Though, I'm not much better on my knowledge of voice actors!
One-sentence synopsis?
Forced into exile by palace intrigue, princess Chaara seeks revenge - and the crown!
Self-published?
Only if the planned anthology falls through. If so, I'd either hold onto the story in case a similar project came along, or maybe expand it to a novella for self-publishing. I'd want buyers to get their money's worth.
How long did it take to write the first draft?
A few weeks.
What other stories in the genre would you compare it to?
Any of Edgar Rice Burroughs' Barsoom/Mars tales, I suppose. Also, I am hoping for a touch of "lost technology" feel. Something like Fred Saberhagen's Empire of the East, too. We'll see if I pull it off.
What else about your story might pique a reader's interest?
The setting. I am still not widely read in the realm of sword-&-planet, but what I have read has arid planets or jungle worlds (or sea worlds.) I don't know if anyone has done it, but I'm going for a Pluto-like planet and let my characters freeze their butts off!
